Joseph Janson lives and works in Austin, Texas. Janson attended Saint John’s University in Minnesota to study painting and graduated with a B.A. in 1978. In 1994 he completed a MFA program at the San Francisco Art Institute. After more than thirty years with a focus on painting, he has recently shifted directions and is now carving wood, drawing, and incorporates a much wider variety of materials into his endeavors. He has shown at the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria, Blue Star Art Space in San Antonio, Purdue University, Southwest Texas State University, and Saint Edward’s University, as well as in galleries across the country.
