About the artist...
Martha Gannon is an artist and designer based in Marfa and Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master’s degree in Studio Arts. A common theme in her work is a playful integration of longing with a present reality. Design projects have included working with architecture firms in Chicago, the Smithsonian Institution’s Natural History Museum, as well as other public and private clients. She taught sculpture at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1991 – 1999, and was a visiting artist at the Universitat de Valencia in Valencia, Spain. She also lived and worked in Italy for a period of time and makes frequent visits there to work and do research.
