"I seek to change the visual understanding of still life painting and drawing. The artwork featured in the 2025 portfolio box series serves as a commentary on still life drawing. By integrating my ongoing exploration of black and white abstract construction with traditional still life compositions, these pieces occupy an intermediate space between realism and non-objectivism. In addition to the inclusion of still life objects, the backgrounds represent a unifying element throughout the series. Each piece is executed as a drawing on wallpaper samples, whose patterns form the backdrop over which the traced still life objects are superimposed and alternatively filled with black acrylic pigment." ~John Adelman
