Juan Luis Jardi has brought a bit of international magic realism to Austin. Paintings depicting his native Barcelona, Paris, Buenos Aires, Manhattan as well as local Austin scenes are dappled with impossibilities and wonder. A carousel appears on a deserted beach, a rhinoceros roams city streets. These works are infused with the innocence and curiosity of childhood, a real treat in today's world.
