Gordon Fowler: Virtual Tour
This content requires HTML5/CSS3 & WebGL.
We are proud to host our 13th show with Austin painter Gordon Fowler. Fowler has long been respected for his impressionist landscapes of Texas and Mexico. For this show, he painted on the Annandale Ranch, a Texas Century Ranch in the Frio River Valley. A Texas Century Ranch is one that has been operated continuously by the same family for more than 100 years. The owners have placed conservation easements on several thousand acres and intend to preserve the natural beauty of the entire ranch for future generations. In honor of this commitment, Fowler has spent the last two years capturing what motivated the family and The Hill Country Conservancy to make preservation a priority and will donate a portion of sales during the Preview Evening on January 8th to The Conservancy for future efforts.
"I first visited the Annandale Ranch a dozen years ago. I was immediately taken by the beauty and majesty of the land and especially the clear Frio River that runs through more than five miles of rugged hill country. After several more annual visits with the Cofers and friends of the ranch, George Cofer invited me to paint there. I began about a year ago and quickly found that this enormous ranch was going to keep me busy. I settled on impressions of the Annandale because a complete visual biography of this huge place would take a lifetime. And, I wasn’t getting any younger. As I completed each painting session, I became more and more connected to the ranch, and the Cofers. They are great custodians and cherish the ranch that’s been in the same family for more than 100 years. Many thanks to the Cofer family, and there many dedicated friends who work to pre- serve this special Texas ranch.
The Annandale Ranch is part of the Hill Country Conservancy and will be there for all time."
