Anne Siems Portfolio Box

Wild Child Sketches, 2023, $3000

During the summer I traveled a lot and had only room for a small sketchpad and my watercolors. I decided to refocus on painting children and at the end had a bunch of figures that were not painted on the size sheet paper required for this Portfolio Box Project. So for the first time I decided to collage my favorite figures and played with the many configurations that were possible until I arrived at those that I deemed best. I thoroughly enjoyed the process which reminded me a little of playing with paper dolls as a kid. The Portfolio Box Project  encouraged us to try something new and through this experiment I arrived at a method I plan to continue in my work on paper. I hope the playfulness is contagious!
