Born in Brooklyn, Stanford Kay graduated from Pratt Institute and later was a Fellow of the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program and a New York Foundation for the Arts grant recipient. His paintings bridge the gap between abstraction and representation. They can be seen as bookshelves or grid paintings or both.
