Revi Meicler was born in Israel and grew up in France and the United States. Impermanence was a concept that was introduced at an early age. The subsequent relocations and immersion into various cultures enforced the awareness that we live in a state of constant flux where things are ever changing, moving, beginning and ending; where impermanence is the only constant.
Her painting process is about creating an illusion, just as our thoughts create the illusion of our story. Telling a story, however, is about creating permanence while painting is about letting go and reconnecting, creating and destroying, losing and finding, and most of all recognizing that the only thing that matters is the energy present during the creation; the same energy that creates and sustains us.
“I am present to impermanence when I paint and am developing the courage to risk destruction for the sake of the possibility of something greater sometimes attained and mostly not.”
